Child Protective Services vs. Families

A four year-old girl is ripped away from parents Child Protective Services calls "abusers," though neither had ever even been accused of neglecting or raising a hand against their daughter.

A four year-old boy is taken from a loving foster mother and handed over to a couple with a long record of abuse within the child protective services.

Neither child ever came back.

Logan Marr died of asphyxiation alone in a basement while wrapped in the 42 feet of duct tape which her foster mother had tied over her mouth and body. Anthony Bars was starved and beaten to death over a 10-month period.

Unfortunately, these stories are not uncommon. Child Protective Services has wide, police-state powers to act against American families, and confidentiality privileges to protect itself from accountability. A knock on the door from them is every parent's worst nightmare.

Fox News Columnist Wendy McElroy has written extensively on CPS abuses. Renee Sperling is a family law attorney who has represented parents fighting to get their children back from CPS. Wendy and Renee join
ed Glenn.

To learn more about CPS abuses, see Wendy's columns A Man's (and Woman's) Home is a Castle, (1/20/04), Children Victimized By System Secrecy (1/13/04), and A State Agency With the Power to 'Kidnap With Impunity' (1/31/01), all from her Fox News column.
