Info on Presenters

Bret Burkholder

Bret has worked in the field of education for nearly twenty years.  He earned his Masters of Social Sciences with an emphasis in Counseling and Communications from PLU in 1984.  His pioneering research in retention and male college students has been published internationally and initiated his growing expertise and commitment to making our schools more "male friendly."  Bret is a husband and father.  He is involved in the Lakewood community as a coach and Safe Streets leader.

Ed Leitner

Ed has been teaching psychology classes at Pierce College in the arenas of Human Development, Men's Issues, Human Sexuality and Introductory Psychology since 1985.  Ed's graduate work was in Developmental Psychology at the University of Texas in Austin.  His research interests have included visual perceptual development in infants, the development of the concept of number and related concepts in young children, and issues for men and boys in education.  Ed is a husband and father with two college aged children.
